Service Details
Our processes help ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy quickly and that all repairs are professionally done by experienced technicians. When cracks or breakages occur and compromise safety, glass replacement is the best solution for you, your passengers, and fellow motorists.
What Can Be Repaired vs What Requires Replacement
You may be able to repair minor chips or small cracks up to about eight inches, but if the damage is extensive enough to cover larger areas, goes too many layers deep into the glass, or is located in the driver’s line of sight, you need to have the windshield replaced.
Cracks at the edge of your windshield, or cracks that branch into several smaller cracks, can compromise the windshield’s structural integrity, making it unsafe for use, and therefore not repairable.
In addition to extensive cracks, other damage that affects the heating elements (defrost lines), sensors, or cameras located in your windshield also requires replacement.
Knowing how to distinguish between the types of damage and when to repair or replace your windshield helps you keep your car safe and ready for the road.
Types of Auto Glass We Replace
Each of these types of glass found on vehicles serves an independent purpose in keeping the occupant of an automobile safe and able to see through the windshield at all times.
Regardless of whether the damage to your automobile is the result of theft through a broken side window or because of debris kicked up by another vehicle, IAA provides only the highest quality, most durable auto glass with a factory correct fit for all types of automobiles.
All windows we replace are to OEM standards by trained professional technicians.
Common Reasons Auto Glass Must Be Replaced
- Impact from road debris
- Temperature changes
- Collisions
- Vandalism
- Lawnmower shooting out rocks
When glass is damaged (e.g. cracks develop), and the damage continues to spread rapidly and/or obstructs or impairs the driver’s view the glass may not be repairable or safe to repair.
Additionally, because properly installed windshields/laminated glass support safety features on modern vehicles, it is sometimes necessary to replace the windshield when structural integrity is compromised due to damage.
Safety Benefits of Proper Glass Replacement
If the windshield is replaced properly, it maintains the same level of safety in terms of crash protection and visibility.
If your car’s glass is not installed properly, you may experience leaks, wind noise, or reduced structural integrity.
IAA technicians are highly skilled and work under strict safety procedures so your windshield installation meets manufacturer specifications and helps keep you and your passengers safe.
OEM vs. Aftermarket Glass Options
OEM glass is an exact duplicate of your original windshield in terms of thickness, clarity, and fit.
Aftermarket glass provides dependable performance at a lower price than OEM.
Both OEM and aftermarket options meet safety specifications, and we assist you in determining which option would be the most appropriate based on your vehicle, insurance policy, and personal preference.
Ultimately, our objective is to provide a justified, correctly-styled replacement, which restores complete functionality.
ADAS Recalibration
ADAS windshield replacement typically requires recalibration of these devices so they operate properly. Our techs are trained to calibrate and align your cameras and sensors, so that ADAS features operate correctly and as intended after your windshield is replaced (regardless of whether OEM or aftermarket glass).
What to Expect After a Replacement
- Once the installation is complete, your vehicle requires a specified amount of time for the adhesive to cure properly.
- Avoid closing your doors forcefully, removing tape, or driving prior to the recommended safe drive away time limit.
- Additionally, allow a little time after the installation before washing the vehicle in order to ensure that the seal is completely set.
Following these guidelines helps your new glass serve you well into the future.
Our Auto Glass Replacement Process
Step Two: After we clean the area, we apply high-quality adhesive to both surfaces before installing the new glass.
Step Three: After we apply the adhesive and install the new glass, we allow it to cure, which forms a solid connection between the two pieces of glass.
Step Four: Before returning your vehicle, we also inspect the glass for proper installation, alignment, clarity, and safety – making sure all of these factors meet the standards set forth by the industry.
How Long Auto Glass Replacement Takes
It’s important to allow the adhesive to cure properly before you drive your vehicle again. Our technician gives you the exact time frame for how long your vehicle needs to stay parked for optimal safety before returning to the road.
Mobile Auto Glass Replacement Services
The procedure is the same as if you bring your vehicle into one of our shops; all we require is a safe, clean, and accessible area to install the replacement glass.
Mobile Service saves you time, eliminates headaches associated with traveling to a repair shop, and gets your damaged glass replaced quickly without interrupting your busy schedule.
