Windshield replacements are pretty common this time of year because of our freezing temperatures and small chips can quickly become large cracks overnight.
When it comes to your windshield, it’s important that you replace any damaged or cracked windshields as soon as possible. Not only can cracked windshields impair visibility, but you can also get a ticket from a police officer that will force you to repair your windshield, or serious repercussions could happen.
The good news is that replacing your windshield should only 1-2 hours to replace your windshield and get you back on the road!

The Windshield Replacement Process
Our windshield replacement begins with the careful removal of the old windshield, followed by prepping the frame for the installation of the new one. Our technicians will then install the replacement windshield, making sure that your new windshield is lined up properly, recalibrated, and ready for you to conquer the road.
After installation, we allow the adhesive to cure. Depending on the glue that’s used and the outdoor temperature, this will take about 1-2 hours. But that won’t impact your ability to drive the vehicle. We’ll use tape to hold your windshield in place, and once curing is done, you can remove that tape.
Time Frame for Windshield Replacement in Flagstaff
All in all the windshield replacement time will take 1-2 hours, depending on the complexity of your specific windshield. Things that could prolong this process include:
- Glass: Typically made of laminated safety glass, windshields are designed to prevent shattering upon impact.
- Defrosting Elements: Many windshields have embedded defrosting elements, either electrical wires or a conductive layer, to melt ice and frost for improved visibility in cold weather.
- Tinted or UV-Coated Glass: Some windshields have a tint or a special UV coating to reduce glare from the sun and protect occupants from harmful UV rays.
- Heads-Up Display (HUD) Integration: Some modern vehicles incorporate a heads-up display directly onto the windshield, projecting vital information such as speed and navigation directions.
- Rain Sensors: Windshields may include rain sensors that automatically activate windshield wipers when rain is detected.
- Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Sensors: Some vehicles have sensors integrated into the windshield to support advanced driver-assistance systems.
- Antenna: In some cases, antennas for radio, GPS, or other communication systems are embedded in the windshield.
We Make this Process As Pain-Free as possible!
