Apprentice Detailer
An apprentice detailer is an entry-level position and will work under the supervision of a level 3 detailer where he/she/they will learn the trade. The apprentice detailer is responsible for prepping vehicles for detail services. While in this position, the apprentice detailer is not allowed to handle wheel acid, titrate/dilute chemicals, and use polishers.
After 6 months as an apprentice detailer, there will be an opportunity to be promoted to a Level 2 Detailer. To be promoted to a Level 2 Detailer, the apprentice detailer must complete a deluxe detail of either the owner’s vehicle or a shop vehicle. A deluxe detail should take 4-6 hours to complete. This detail will be timed and checked by a Level 3 detailer or Detail Manager for thoroughness and quality of work.
An Apprentice Detailer will report to a Level 3 Detailer.
Detailer Level 2
A Level 2 Detailer will build on the knowledge they gained as an apprentice detailer by learning how to use wheel acid, titrate/dilute chemicals, and learn how to use the polishers and other enhancements while under the direct supervision of a Level 3 Detailer. A leave 2 Detailer will learn how to complete minor paint corrections, stain removal, and how to appropriately detail a headliner. He/she/they should be able to complete all detail packages besides ceramic coatings with minimal supervision.
A Level 2 Detail will remain in this position for 1 -2 years before moving to a Level 3 Detailer. During this time, a Level 2 Detailer will begin learning about ceramic coatings and applying ceramic coating under the direct supervision of a Level 3 Detailer. In order to be promoted to a Level 3 Detailer, he/she/they will need to complete an executive detail on either an owner’s vehicle or a shop vehicle. This will also include applying a ceramic coating correctly and efficiently. This should take approximately 1.5 days to complete and will be inspected by a Level 3 Detailer or the Detail Manager.
A Level 2 Detailer will report to a Level 3 Detailer.
Detailer Level 3
A Level 3 Detailer is expected to be able to complete all detail packages, enhancements, ceramic coatings, and be able to dilute/titrate chemicals appropriately. It is expected that a Level 3 Detailer will supervise all apprentices and Level 2 Detailers. This includes teaching them how to complete the jobs appropriately and efficiently and ensuring their work is up to shop standards. The Level 3 Detailer will also help the Detail Manager with chemical inventory.
A Level 3 Detailer will report to the Detail Manager.
